WCOC HISTORY

In March 1897, a very small group of women met in the jury room of the Ouray Courthouse to organize a club whose purposes would be self-improvement, community service, and philanthropy.

How Poems Messed Up This Perfectionist

Perhaps like you, I wanted to be brilliant. It’s a great goal, but it got in the way of being a writer. if I couldn't be brilliant, I didn't want to write at all. Result: I seldom wrote. My pages stayed perfectly blank. Then, thirteen years ago, on a dare I began to write a poem a day. And share it. What I learned: Diving into the mess has so much to offer. In this program, I’ll talk about four creative promises that I keep every day, how a practice in one area can positively change every other part of our life, and how perfectionism just might serve me after all.
